Reflections

To be like a child can be defined as many things, but to me, in this season, it means these: to forgive easily, to stay curious and never lose my sense of wonder, to fully settle into the fact that God is my Father, and to not worry about what I will eat, drink, or wear tomorrow, because that is my Father's concern (Matthew 6:25-34).
I am first grateful that I have the gift and capacity to forgive easily, and this is because, like a child, I have learned to tell God where it hurts and expect Him to fix me.
I have also been more open-minded lately, within the boundaries of my faith, to pray the best-case scenario, and the Lord has exceeded my expectations time and time again.
As someone with a lot of children around me, I do my best to study their patterns. If the Bible tells me to be like a child (Matthew 18:3), then it is from the child that I would learn what to do. So I watch them closely. How they love. How they move on from disappointment without holding a grudge. Their never-ending requests, not from a place of entitlement, but from a place of trusting that the adult is capable. It is the same way I live my life with God. He is able to do exceedingly more than I can think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
I know that as adults, the cares of the world try to creep in and take away our child-likeness, but it is worth fighting for. Shalom!
